What I want to share about my Dublin experience? Vision Board..What does it really mean?

Author, Valentina Nicoli

A vision board is a tool used to help clarify, concentrate and maintain focus on a specific life goal. Literally, a vision board is any sort of board on which you display images that represent whatever you want to be, do or have in your life.

What is the point? Simply put, we humans tend to be a very busy species and constantly bombarded by distractions. Making use of vision boards serves several purposes, some of which include helping you to: identify your vision and give it clarity; reinforce your daily affirmations; keep your attention on your intentions.

All Léim participants in Dublin shared in this experience, led by the coach Mary O’Brien (www.maryobriencareercoach.ie), who asked us to imagine what is our future vision of the Léim experience.

In my personal experience this was the first time creating a vision board; I was a little bit confused at the beginning because we are not used to facing our needs and goals through images, chosen from pieces of magazines: in that moment your mind begins to run, and never stops, thinking, searching, meditating; so we were actively seek for specific details to represent our vision.

During the work the room was silent, each of us were close to our own interior world, and it was a very special moment, because most people are scared about silence..but not in that moment!

After an hour an half we shared our final “Mood Board”: it was interesting to see how each of us have a different mental order, and which different “moods of life” we have: comic, dreamer, provocateur..

The most important things about this kind  experience for me is that vision board helps you to improve your relationship with others and stay focused on your goals. This should make us reflect on how we can communicate our projects.
